1. Introduction / What people believe about hell.
– Some say hell doesn’t exist.
– Some say only “bad” people go there.
2. What does the Bible say about heaven and hell?
– Jesus taught about hell often.
– Luke 16:19-31 tells about the rich man and Lazarus.
– Lazarus died and went to heaven, a place of unspeakable joy.
– The rich man died and went to hell, a place of torment and agony.
3. Our possessions.
– Money is not the root of evil, but rather the love of it.
– What is our attitude toward our possessions?
4. Angels carried Lazarus to Abraham’s side (Luke 16:22)
– The Bible has a lot to say about angels.
– We should not worship them.
– People do not become angels at death.
– The word ‘angel’ means ‘messenger.’
– From angels, we learn about worship, service, and joy.
5. Hell
– Everyone either goes to heaven or hell after this life.
– There is no passage from one to the other. (Luke 16:26)
– There are no second chances, no reincarnation. (Heb. 9:27)
– A place of ‘blackest darkness’ (Jude 13),
‘everlasting destruction’ (2 Thess. 1:9),
‘weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ (Matt. 8:12)
– It is eternal.
– All will bow the knee one day to Jesus (Phil. 2:10) either willingly or reluctantly.
6. How can a person believe?
– Through God’s Word. (Luke 16:29)
– By knowing Jesus Christ. (John 3:16)
7. Conclusion
– Our destiny is settled at death.
– We have sufficient warning now.
– Heaven is a place of unspeakable joy, hell is a place of torment and agony.
– God is love and He is also just.
